The Seattle Green Bag Campaign held a fundraiser in late June featuring environmental artist Chris Jordan, a mini-bar, wood-fired pizza and corn-based plastic cups.

Held at the Western Bridge Art Gallery on the south side of the city, the event featured Jordan’s photoshopped works of scale that put a
face on the large “incomprehensible” numbers of plastic consumption and waste. Jordan said he supports the 20 cent disposable bag fee
going before voters as Referendum 1 on Aug. 18 because “we use 360 million plastic bags a year and some percentage of it ends up in our
oceans. If we want to live sustainably, this is a sensible first stab at eliminating our manufacturing consumption.”

Councilmember Jean Godden, who has previously contributed to the campaign was present to show her support.

Overall, the fundraiser saw a turnout of about 85 people and gathered donations of over $5,000.
