The good folks at WeBuyItGreen have done a really smart bit of sleuthing and boy, did they uncover something juicy. Close on the heels of the unprecedented $1,000,000 spend that came from the ACC in an attempt to buy Seattle city politics, comes our own version of a smoking gun — a study funded by the ACC that concluded that “cloth bags were shown to reduce environmental impacts if consumers can be convinced to switch.” In other words, once people have an incentive to not use plastic bags, they know how to do the right thing.
Seattle’s Referendum 1 is obviously doing the right thing, in putting a cost on something that truly is costly for all of us — consumer behavior that destroys the environment in spite of a far cheaper and equally convenient alternative being available.
Protect Seattle from attacks funded by industry lobbies who care more for their profits than for Seattle’s health. Vote to approve Referendum 1!
