What Else Lobbying Money Buys: Child Pesticide Subjects

From Grist.org, comes this article on alternate uses of the more than a million dollars of plastic lobby money that has gone into defeating Referendum 1.

The article reminds us that the ACC, who is funding this effort to tell Seattle voters what to do, was also at one time responsible for campaigning for an experiment where they “offered families $970 (and a camcorder!) if they agreed to expose their children to pesticides and allow researchers to study the effects.” Now what memories did they want the families to capture with the camcorder… a before/after picture of their kids who were about to be sprayed with bug-killer liquids?

  1. The Green Bag Campaign seems to forget that the proposal applies to PAPER bags as well. Why isn’t the paper industry or any complaints about paper bags expressed on this website?
