The Seattle Times has published a great op-ed by Kathy Fletcher and Denis Hayes, respectively the Executive Director of People for Puget Sound and the national coordinator of the first Earth Day. Kathy and Denis demolish the lies and myths being propagated by the American Chemistry Council in their article (and did you know that before they rebranded themselves, they were more appropriately named the Chemical Manufacturers Association?)
Please comment on the article expressing your support of Referendum 1, or write a letter to the editor of the Seattle Times by emailing them at opinion@seattletimes.com. Tell your friends to tell the Seattle Times that we Seattleites do not want out-of-city lobbies lying to us and misleading us into voting to destroy our own health and environment.

Ashley,
those are great links to share — it’s good to see the attention everyone’s paying to how much money the chemical lobbies are pouring into this campaign against Seattle’s citizens and environment.
That last article on the Capitol Hill Seattle blogs makes some great points about how to make the city greener — if we added the bag fee to the list of taxes proposed there, that would make the list complete!
Gary.
